Making Tracks

26th – 28th April 2011:

I went camping in the Peak District for a few days and, having read a walking guide book before I went, I already had an idea of what I wanted to focus my photographic attention on. I wanted to investigate how humans had interacted with such a dramatic landscape, which quite often manifested itself in a visual battle between humanity and nature. To heighten the sense of this conflict I decided to present a series of black and white images, most of which are very bold and contrasty with a sense of drama. Some of them are very abstract, which hopefully pushes the viewers imagination a bit further and tempts them into exploring this relationship with nature.
